This virtual course will provide the basic background and organizing tools needed to jumpstart a plastics campaign on your campus. It is for students that are interested in making their school plastic-, and waste-free long-term. We will go over all stages of the plastic cycle, and learn the basics of a successful campaign.
What you’ll learn: In this course, we will cover the basics of the plastic crisis and introduce some campaign strategies to eliminate plastic on your campus
Length: 4 weeks/ 2 days a week/ 1.5 hours a day (July 13 to August 7)
Campers can choose:
- Monday/ Wednesday 1:00 – 2:30 pm 8 meetings: July 13,15, 20, 22, 27, 29, August 3, 5
- Tuesday/Thursday 2:30 – 4:00 pm 8 meetings: July 7, 9, 14, 16, 21, 23, 28, 30
- Third option may be available based on demand
Effort: 3-5 hours a week

Level: Intermediate (some basic organizing and plastic knowledge)
What you’ll need: Reliable access to the internet and computer, A notebook and pen, other materials as needed by self-made projects.
Meet your instructor
Young is a 23 year old campaign organizer at the Post-Landfill Action Network. They graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in April of 2019 after leading the Fossil Fuel Divestment campaign there, and have since worked with over 60 colleges nation-wide on their plastics campaigns.
