Conference Countdown!

PLAN’s Students for Zero Waste Conference brings together students, staff, industry innovators, activists, and community members from across the country each Fall. Since 2014, SZW has served as a space for community-building and solution sharing to push the movement forward. It prioritizes “walking the walk” of Zero Waste and centering the needs of those most impacted by the waste crisis and systems of oppression.  SZW is BACK this year and will be held virtually from Friday, November 5 to Sunday, November 7, 2021!

SZW may look a bit different in a virtual format, but the framework and content will be just as familiar as years past. The conference will include networking & affinity group meet-ups, activity sessions, and panels covering topics related to waste and environmental justice.

Registration is FREE for all students in member campuses! Access the discount code by making a PLAN account and signing into the Member Hub. Tickets are sold on a sliding scale for all others. Note: We never turn students away for a lack of funds. Reach out to with any concerns.

Donate to our SZW Fundraiser!

We work hard each year to build a space for learning, community building, and celebrating at SZW. We rely on our supportive network of donors and volunteers to help us prioritize accessibility for our events. This is why, over the summer, we are looking to raise $30,000 in an effort to prioritize accessibility to virtual SZW 2021 by allowing sliding scale pricing and FREE admission to all students at PLAN member campuses.

Additionally, this fund will be used for:

  • Sliding scale ticket costs. We will never turn anyone away for lack of funding, and we ask those who can afford to pay full price tickets to do so.
  • ASL interpreters, captioning, and other digital accessibility services.
  • Decompression spaces and emotional and mental health support staff on call.
